DDD – Polly Kromhout ’13

Pat McGill and I agreed to meet for lunch at Bread of Heaven in Alcoa for our assignment.  Though both Pat and I have lived in the area for years, neither of us had the privilege of experiencing this locally owned restaurant.  Bread of Heaven has been opened almost eight years and serves a lunch buffet Monday through Friday. In addition, Thursday nights they serve all you can eat ribs with all of the usual side dishes.

 

The restaurant is owned by Michael Colquitt, an Alcoa native.  He cooks and serves all the Southern favorites along with smoked and barbequed meat.  The vegetables on the buffet included green beans, corn, and greens.  Cole slaw and macaroni and cheese are also favorites.  Michael’s godmother serves as the cashier and related there is a large regular lunch crowd from the area businesses.

 

Bread of Heaven is a great locally owned restaurant serving down home, Southern comfort food.
